Sarasota Real Estate – Why Did it Sell? A Mega Retailer Finds a New Home

Palmer Ranch Luxury HomesThe grand opening of Costco has caused a lot of excitement within Sarasota.  From reinvigorating the Sarasota Square area, to producing new local jobs, to bargains on items across the board, many people have been positively impacted by the Costco Warehouse Corp.’s decision to place a store here.  Michael Saunders & Company Realtor, Stephanie Bugatti, is no exception.

“I developed a relationship with my client just about two years ago,” Stephanie explains. “He was relocating from Utah with the Costco Corporation.”

When her client reached out to Michael Saunders & Company to search for Sarasota real estate two years ago, the Costco move was very preliminary. The MSC relocation department immediately referred the client to Stephanie.  In their initial discussions, he informed her that his move could be years away but in the meantime he wanted to learn everything he could about Sarasota, from staying abreast of the property values to the pros and cons of the different areas.

Constantly communicating via phone, email, and text messages (her client’s preferred method), Stephanie spoke with him at least once a week over this two year period.  He arranged to visit Sarasota for three 4-5 day trips, each time viewing a wide range of properties.

Stephanie describes his top choices, “We identified Siesta Key real estate which included waterfront homes, and then the other end of the spectrum, subdivisions in nearby Palmer Ranch in South Sarasota.”

Beyond location preference, her client’s other consideration was that he had a very wide price range, anywhere from $800,000 up to $2.8 million. They viewed many homes within those limits. With a multitude of options and no clear deadline on the horizon, it was difficult at times for her client to reach any conclusions.

Stephanie praises agents Kim Ogilvie and Linda Dickinson for their assistance, patience, and for granting every request for a lister accompany.

Ultimately, it turned out that the Palmer Ranch area was the most appealing to her client. He felt foremost that the location was convenient to Costco’s future home and he was comfortable with the lower price points.

“We ended up contracting with an agent in my office, Joan Parkinson, who had this listing,” Stephanie says. “It all stayed in house.”

Her client chose a luxurious 4,600 square foot Mediterranean-style home built in 2007 located in a gated community. With five grown children, he also wanted ample space for when his children and their families came to visit.

Her clients moved in the first week of September.

After two years of searching, Stephanie notes that not every buyer is on the same constraints with time. Patience, persistence, and understanding ultimately pay off. What’s more, two years of constant correspondence with her client blossomed into a lovely friendship. Stephanie explains that now she feels like a part of the family.

“It was a great decision for him. He really got an amazing deal. In fact, he just called me this morning and said, ‘We’re so happy. ’ He was really thrilled with the results.”
