Michael Saunders & Company is pleased to welcome Betsy Schutz to the Bradenton office.

A longtime real estate professional, Betsy brings a wealth of experience and proven accomplishment to her career.

After attending Wellesley College in Massachusetts, Betsy entered the real estate industry as the president and owner of a real estate firm. In this role, she specialized in consulting, sales and marketing for community developers. She also held the responsibility of creating effective marketing strategies, building ads, writing copy and designing purchase strategies. She later went on to work for major developers in the Northeast, transitioning to the marketing and sales of luxury vacation properties on Cape Cod.

After relocating to the Sarasota-Bradenton area in 2000, Betsy spent 11 years with Neal Communities, where she earned the Prestigious Million Dollar Circle Award from the Home Builders Association. She also obtained the Master Certified Sales Professional designation (MCSP) through continuing her education in new homes.

Originally from Nicaragua, Maria relocated to Minnesota in 1978, where she attended Hamline University, married and lived in St. Paul, Minnesota, for the next eight years. Her husband’s job transfer later took them to St. Louis, Missouri, where they lived for nine years. Finally, a new transfer brought them to Bradenton, where they fell in love with the area and have made it their home for the past 15 years.

Having a husband who has worked the boating industry for 30 years has given her a strong knowledge of the waterfront market and boating waters throughout Florida’s Gulf Coast, an advantage she proudly passes on to her clients. To provide an added benefit, she has earned the Short Sale and Foreclosure Resource (SFR) certification

Located just north of Lakewood Ranch—off Highway 64—GreyHawk Landing is a guard-gated community that was developed to appreciate nature. It is common to see deer and other native animals peeking out from the wetlands and their native habitat. Centrally located on the southwest side of Manatee County, Glenn Lakes & The Estates at Glenn Lakes encompass approximately 271 sprawling acres, which includes eight lakes. There are 371 one- and two-story homes in Glenn Lakes that were built starting in 1995. Glenn Lakes and The Estates at Glenn Lakes are deed restricted communities, which allows the residents to follow certain guidelines to help maintain the aesthetic atmosphere of the community. The Neighborhood Report – Perico Bay Club

Perico Bay Club is a gated community located on the southwest side of Perico Island. The island was named after the Perico brothers from Cuba, who established a fishing camp in the area. The development was built by Neal Communities starting in 1985 and finished out in 1992. There are 700 units, all offering water or mangrove views. The mangroves are maintained at eight feet, and the annual trimming is the largest permitted in the state today. The community offers four tennis courts, several pools, an activity center and a dedicated television channel showing scheduled events. About 30 percent of the owners are full-time residents.

Market Activity – Perico Bay Club

In the last 30 days, there have been eight new listings, five pending sales and two closures. Currently, there are 41 units for sale in the Multiple Listing Service. During high season, Perico Bay Club usually has around 60 units for sale. (more…)

The Neighborhood Report – Garden Lakes

Referred to by some as Bradenton’s Best-Kept Secret, Garden Lakes is a lovely community with comprised of freestanding homes, paired villas and a smaller group of 33 air-space condominiums, the Courtyards—called “air space” as the owner owns from the drywall in. Of the 295 total residences, 262 land-owned units are located inside the gated section and divided into seven separate components. Three of the components are paired villas and four are freestanding homes known as the Villages. As each section was developed and built different times—and sometimes by different builders—they became separate entities or components, each with its own board of directors. In 1993, they declared themselves a 55+ community requiring each new homeowner would to have at least one person aged 55 or older living in the home.

The community association, known as the Garden Lakes Community Association, has its own board with directors and representatives from each of the components. The GLCA provides maintenance of the common areas, private roads and clubhouse, which offers a heated pool, fitness facility, two tennis courts and a shuffleboard court (more…)
