You Haven’t Lived in Sarasota until You’ve Crossed this Bridge

There are probably a dozen experiences one must undergo in Sarasota before you can truly consider yourself a local. Some of the items on my all-important list include: – Attend a show at one of our award-winning community theatres. – Go to the Sarasota Farmers Market (but know in advance what you are purchasing). – Avoid the beach because, well, everyone else is there. Still, there is one spectacular (and free) rite of passage that rests at the very top of my SRQ initiations: – Go for a walk across the Ringling Causeway Bridge! RinglingBridge_14 (more…)

Labor of Love: Top Ways To Spend Labor Day In Sarasota And Beyond

Historic Venice hosts a craft festival this Labor Day weekend

Historic Venice hosts a craft festival this Labor Day weekend

First celebrated in the late 1800’s, Labor Day was created to honor the social and economic achievements of American workers. The very first Labor Day took place in New York City on September 5, 1882, and was marked with union speeches and a workers’ march from City Hall to 42nd Street. Flash forward just over a century to our modern day, and Labor Day is more celebratory in nature. It’s a time to enjoy the long weekend and mark the winding down of summer, complete with fun family outings, picnics and parades. Ancient Greek playwright Sophocles once said, “Without labor, nothing prospers”, so celebrate your achievements and savor your hard earned break with one of the great Sarasota area happenings: (more…)

Regarded as one of Sarasota’s most prestigious neighborhoods, Lido Shores is a quaint community with an eclectic mix of approximately 100 homes—many of which are contemporary creations designed by accomplished and distinguished Sarasota School of Architecture scholars.

The waterfront properties have frontage on Pansy Bayou, New Pass, Sarasota Bay and the Gulf of Mexico, all of which offer direct, deepwater boating access to open water. Residents of Lido Shores enjoy the convenience of walking distance to St. Armands Circle and Mote Marine, and are just a short drive from the amenities of downtown Sarasota.

Real Estate Market Activity – Lido Shores

Of the eight sales on Lido Shores in 2012, five of them involved Michael Saunders & Company’s agents. Selling prices have ranged from $1,425,000 for a two-bedroom/two-bath home up to $7,100,000 for a five-bedroom/six-bath estate. (more…)

Sarasota Real Estate – St. Armands Towers

Nestled between the beautiful two-mile sandy beach of Lido Key and the elegant shopping and dining venues of St Armands Circle sit the landmark buildings of St. Armands Towers North and St. Armands Towers South.

Although both buildings boast similar names, the same palm façade and floor plans, the associations are run separately, providing something for everyone. St. Armands Towers South is pet friendly and a new owner must wait two years to rent after purchasing. Units in St. Armands Towers North have washer and dryer hookups and can be rented immediately.  (more…)

These stores range from fine shops to restaurants, as continental flavor and charm grace this synthesis of past and present. Adding to the casually elegant atmosphere, lush tropical plantings surround visitors and future home owners. (more…)
