Southwest Florida enjoys such an enviable array of lifestyle amenities that many of us call it “paradise.” And with good reason.
Among many other honors bestowed on the region by the national media, ours is routinely named one of the best places in America to retire, is oft-cited for having the country’s best beach; and is regularly praised for a visual and performing arts scene that simply astounds those who don’t expect to find so many first-rate cultural options in a community this size. In truth, these accolades are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to garnering international recognition for our way of life. (more…)

To the growing list of amenities that make Southwest Florida such an irresistible place to be—including our internationally-acclaimed beaches and cultural scene—we can add sports as yet another calling card that attracts tens of thousands of annual visitors to the region.
On the face of it, sports tourism is hardly new to an area that has officially hosted spring training baseball for the better part of the last 88 years; and whose warmth and year-round sunshine routinely attracts golfers, fishermen and all manner of recreational enthusiasts. What is new are the scope and variety of the international sporting events being awarded to the region. (more…)

Beautifully situated on one of the last large parcels of undeveloped waterfront land in the new West Bradenton, Legends Bay at IMG Academies is far removed, but not far away. Legends Bay offers a wonderful lifestyle that is part natural beauty, part exceptional sporting opportunities. With over a mile of waterfront directly on Sarasota Bay, the community provides views over wetlands and mangroves, with abundant wild life and water birds and kayaking along the peaceful waterway. IMG Academies in Bradenton
Not long ago we wrote about the various educational institutions that make Southwest Florida more than just a pretty place to live. The region is amazingly top heavy with superb choices to match the goals and aspirations of every serious-minded student, artist or athlete. Just this week, in fact, it was learned that more kudos are due Dr. Larry Thompson and his Ringling College of Art and Design for being the first arts school ever named to U.S. News & World Report’s annual publication America’s Best Colleges. No surprise there.
Recently, we were once again reminded how incredibly diverse our academic choices are when we were given a tour of one the area’s most unique institutions—Bradenton’s IMG Academies—which clearly inhabits a class unto itself. Happily, the eye-opening tour was part of a larger mission. Michael Saunders & Company has just become the official on-site real estate brokerage for this remarkable collection of training academies, each entirely devoted to excellence in a single sport. A new full-service branch office of Michael Saunders & Company—our 17th—is now open and operating from the Clubhouse at IMG Academies.

One can never say too much about the extraordinary array of lifestyle amenities that await newcomers to Southwest Florida once they opt to live here. More often than not, however, these much-deserved kudos involve the region’s top-rated beaches, its limitless recreational opportunities; and, or course, its embarrassment of riches with respect to the visual, performing and culinary arts.
No less deserving of praise is the superb array of educational amenities—spread throughout the community—that enables students of all ages to take advantage of a broad range of unique learning opportunities that few Florida communities can equal. For families with school-aged children, this is perhaps the single most important amenity to consider before deciding where to settle in the Sunshine State. As well, for adults who view life as one continuous opportunity to absorb new ideas, discover new interests and develop new skills—Southwest Florida is one large laboratory of learning.
