A Water View

rowing23336129Water.  It’s an essential component of the Florida lifestyle. Water defines our borders, underscores the state’s remarkable ecosystem; and provides a 101 different ways to enjoy our amazing year-round climate.

Because of its mesmerizing beauty and seemingly endless list of recreational uses, water is also the sine qua non of the state’s economy.  Without its beaches, bays and estuaries, Florida would be just another landlocked state for tourists to fly over on their way to some other coastal utopia.

It is even debatable whether Southwest Florida’s highly-developed cultural scene would flourish as it does without the magnificence of the Gulf of Mexico to lure generations of artists, writers, performers and patrons of the arts to our particular stretch of coastline. (more…)

Pioneer Days are approaching in Englewood and there is a good deal of anticipation for the return of this annual festival.  Now in its 57th year, the community gathers to celebrate Englewood’s original settlers with a series of exciting events that engage both young and old.

The theme for 2013 is “Englewood Goes Hollywood” paying homage to the stars who have chosen to reside amongst Englewood’s sunny shores and beckoning boating waters. Celebrities in residence have included the ultimate silent film star, Mary Pickford; American actor, Douglas Fairbanks; game show host, Ed McMahon; pop singer, Bobby Vinton; and comedian, Dan Rowan.

From August 17th to September 2nd, participants can join in with a variety of contests and events – from “Englewood’s Got Talent” to a Chalkfest, Fish-A-Thon, Car Show, and even a Hollywood Song Sing-A-Long.  But ask any of our Englewood real estate agents and they will tell you the most highly anticipated events are, without question, the Card Board Boat Races and the Pioneer Days Parade! Over the last several weeks, we’ve received an outpouring of thank you letters from each charity. Their words of gratitude have expressed first-hand how each grant will directly impact those in need.
