Mill Creek, FL – Neighborhood Video

Mill Creek is tranquil country living at its best—peaceful estates close to the amenities of modern life. Originally opened on 900 acres in the late 1980’s, with the goal of creating a wonderful family environment, Mill Creek’s rustic charm is exquisitely maintained by its inhabitants. It’s such a desirable community that another 300 acres were added. But there’s nothing cookie cutter about it. Architectural styles range from colonial to contemporary to Mediterranean to Florida ranch, and every home enjoys a spacious, wooded lot.

Michael Saunders & Company is pleased to welcome Bob & Mary Ellen Poggemann to the Englewood office.

Originally from Minocqua, Wisconsin, Bob and Mary Ellen took homestead in South Gulf Cove in 2009 after 26 years of vacationing in the Venice/Nokomis area. As The Poggemann Team, they specialize in waterfront properties.

Mary Ellen began her real estate career in Wisconsinin 1982, where she specialized in residential properties. Since then, she has earned the Graduate of the Realtors Institute (GRI) Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES) and Residential Network Specialist (RNS) designations to enhance the service she provides her clients.

After 28 years of owning and operating a residential building company, where he built over 250 homes in Northern Wisconsin, Bob transitioned his experience to the real estate industry in 2002. He has earned the Graduate of the Realtors Institute (GRI) Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), Accredited Buyers Representative (ABR) and Certified Distressed Property Expert (CDPE) designations.

Siesta Key’s No. 1 Beach Ranking Draws Travelers on Weekend Getaways

There’s something exhilarating about arriving at Florida’s West Coast. After driving across the spartan interior, it flings a traveler into an inverted image of the East Coast: all the aspects of Florida living and the tropical aesthetic are here, but less of other things we find annoying. And everything is in some different context, culminating with sunset over a pristine beach on the Gulf.

That’s enough of a getaway for a holiday weekend such as Memorial Day, the first weekend after the Miami-based purveyor of U.S. shores, “Dr. Beach,” ceremoniously traveled to Siesta Key to announce that its beach finally garnered his highest honors.

Avoiding Whiplash

Last week, Wall Street answered the rancorous debate over the debt ceiling with four consecutive days of wild swings involving more than 400 points per day. They dubbed it Whiplash Week.   In one of the most volatile weeks in the market’s history, unnerved investors were suddenly scrambling to find safer havens to park their money.

Meanwhile the volatility that unsettled real estate markets over the past few years has largely subsided, leaving housing prices at their lowest level since the turn of the century.  In a clear case of over-correction, seasoned market watchers are now calling many areas that bubbled-up the most during the boom—like Southwest Florida—undervalued.

Real estate is rarely a practical way to earn a short-term profit, as many underleveraged property flippers discovered the hard way once the boom went belly-up.  Still, as a means to enjoy steady long-term appreciation, it remains one of the most reliable.

Each month, real estate authority Steve Harney updates a graph comparing returns on investment for real estate versus the Dow, S&P and the NASDAQ.  Recent volatility in all these markets notwithstanding, had you invested $100 in each in early 2001, by now you would have netted $140 in real estate, versus $110 on the Dow, $92 on the S&P and $70 on NASDAQ. Michael Saunders & Company is pleased to welcome Linda A. Page to the Main Street office.

A veteran top-producer in Sarasota real estate and development circles, Linda has a long and distinguished record in new homes and condominiums development and sales, international property marketing and luxury re-sales.

A long-term resident of Florida, Linda has lived in Sarasota since 1973, and enjoyed a career with such high-end developers as U.S. Assets Group. As such, she has been involved in such noteworthy projects as Beau Ciel—the luxury condominium on Sarasota’s Bayfront—and Orchid Beach Club on Lido Beach.

Prior to joining U.S. Assets, Linda was Broker/Director of Sales for University Park Country Club for six years, during which time she received the highest award in the entire U.S. home building industry. She was named 2000 Sales Manager of the Year (Silver Award) by the National Association of Home Builders. She was also awarded the prestigious John P. Hall Award by the Sales and Marketing Council, citing her “superlative achievements and lasting contributions to the real estate industry.”

Linda’s career highlights have also included such diverse projects as The Water Club on Longboat Key, and Four Seasons Country Clubs in Portugal and Spain—developed by McInerney Properties, PLC, in Dublin Ireland. There, she was responsible for training over 100 sales associates from many different countries and teaching numerous sales and marketing classes for outside firms as well.

“It’s with no small amount of pride that we welcome Linda to Michael Saunders & Company,” said founder, CEO Michael Saunders. “Besides ranking in the highest echelon of Sarasota property sales, Linda is truly an “agent’s agent,” who is both admired and emulated by many of her professional colleagues.  Her exceptional experience and passion for the business is a tremendous asset, particularly as our re-sale market recovers and developers begin to eye new projects for the region.”
