Palma Sola, FL – Neighborhood Video

Palma Sola is one of Bradenton’s oldest and most prestigious neighborhoods, where generations of families have flourished in an atmosphere of old fashioned American charm. Winding streets and sloping lawns lead down to sparkling Palma Sola Bay, with its wide water views of the barrier islands and the glorious sunsets. There’s a neighborly feeling here, with dog walking and bike-riding and even a marina to accommodate the many boat owners.

Palma Sola is famous for its eclectic homes in many styles. Old Spanish haciendas that date back to the 1920’s are next door to lavish newer homes that contain every amenity for present day family life. The houses directly on the water are particularly lavish—in fact they’re among the finest in Bradenton. But the neighborhood also includes classic Florida homes from all eras. Many have been beautifully updated, while others await a new owner’s custom touch.

The Neighborhood Report – Country Club Shores

Delight in waterfront living in Country Club Shores. Pictured: 600 Putting Green Lane.

Country Club Shores is one of the neighborhoods that truly define Sarasota. With homes built almost entirely on spacious canals or desirable Sarasota Bay, Country Club Shores epitomizes what the good life in Florida is all about—sun, swimming, boating and golf. It’s chic, casual and convenient.

The homes in Country Club Shores fall into two categories. The original residences, mostly one-story Florida ranches, have been updated over the years and now combine the best of the old and new. The scale is more intimate, but the details and appointments are up-to-date and luxurious. The newer homes spare no expense. They are large and lavish, and those on prime parcels of land are priced well into the millions. (more…)

Life Beyond The Beach

Siesta Key Beach

Siesta Key Beach

It was wonderful to read that tourism has skyrocketed in the weeks since Siesta Beach was crowned America’s best seashore. It couldn’t have come at a more accommodating time for our region’s recovering economy. The short-term impact has already rippled far beyond Siesta Key’s powdery white beaches, with the long-term economic benefits expected to be huge.

If you’re visiting for the first time, welcome to an area we affectionately call “paradise.” If you’re like most of us who’ve discovered Sarasota, you came for the beaches; but will end up staying for other key amenities—including top-rated schools and universities, medical facilities, recreational opportunities, cultural institutions and more.

Beyond our nationally-recognized beaches, here are a few of the other official accolades that have come our way over the past few years:

• Money Magazine, CNBC and each awarded Sarasota-Manatee their top designation as “Best Place to Retire.”
• Money Magazine named Sarasota-Manatee the “Best Place to Retire Young.”
• Money Magazine calls Sarasota-Manatee one of the “Best Places to Live and Launch a Business.”
• AARP ranks Sarasota-Manatee tops among “Best Places to Re-invent Yourself.”
