Museum Area, FL – Neighborhood Video

The Museum Area is Sarasota at its most unique. A tropical setting of ancient oaks and swaying palm trees provides the backdrop for a collection of 80 year old mansions, craftsman bungalows, and waterfront estates that blend into a picturesque panorama of Sarasota’s past and present.

The jewel in the crown of the Museum Area is undoubtedly the Ca d’Zan, one of the most famous homes in America. Built by circus king John Ringling and his wife Mable back in the 1920’s, the Venetian-style palazzo sits on the ground of the Ringling Art Museum, overlooking Sarasota Bay. Its imaginative spirit sets the tone for the entire neighborhood. Indeed, many of the nearby homes were once owned by the Ringlings, their family, and friends. No other part of town has such an immediate sense of history.
